While parents who are clearly and embarrassingly inappropriate come in for ridicule, many of us are drawn to the idea that with just a bit more parental elbow grease, we might give our children assured futures. Is there really anything wrong with a kind of "overparenting lite"?

Anthony 問，inappropriate 通常用來形容不當(dāng)行為，這里卻用來形容父母，是否合適？又，"overparenting lite" 中的 "lite" 是什么意思？

Inappropriate 是形容詞，用來修飾名詞，不管那名詞是顯示動作、人、地、時，都可以用得上。

至于 lite，是 light 的俗寫，意思是輕微，與 heavy 相對。我們可以把 lite 稱為「輕微版」，如 light beer 的酒精濃度較一般啤酒低。

Overparenting 指父母過分緊張焦慮，整天為子女的一切張羅的狀況，而 overparenting lite 就是 overparenting 的輕微版：緊張還緊張，但尚算不失分寸，不至于過火。
