Hello ladies and gentlemen. This is Ukki here for you today. Do you still remember what we talked about yesterday? Actually, we talked about the word "pink" yesterday. The first one is "feel in the pink", if someone feel in the pink means he or she is in the good health. Then the second one is "tickled pink". I'm tickled pink means I am very pleased, I am delighted.
feel blue
I woke up feeling blue and I've been feeling blue all day. I don't know why: everything's okay with me. Maybe it's this terrible weather—cold and rainy for five whole days in a row!
sing the blues: cry the blues
有一種情調(diào)感傷的美國黑人歌曲,就稱為the blues藍調(diào),但習慣用語sing the blues或者cry the blues 不能按照字面意思解釋為吟唱藍調(diào)或者大唱藍調(diào),而是to complain 訴苦的意思。
例句:I just spent two hours listening to Bill sing the blues about his girl friend leaving him for some other guys. I feel sorry for him but he ought to forget it: after all, it happened two years ago.
